Hubert Sumlin was a unique and visionary electric guitarist whose work with Howlin' Wolf in the 1950s created iconic blues riffs and influenced countless others including Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Keith Richards, Robbie Robertson, and Jimmy Page. Sumlin plucked the guitar strings with his fingers rather than using a plectrum giving his sound an intense and vocal character.
